Protection against extreme heat is of the utmost importance in motorcycle applications. The air-cooled V-twin engines used in Harley-Davidson motorcycles can get extremely hot, particularly when idling or traveling at low speeds. If a motorcycle oil cannot withstand hot operating temperatures, its ability to provide adequate engine protection is compromised. Dynamometer Testing
To demonstrate its extreme-heat protection qualities, AMSOIL 20W-50 Synthetic Motorcycle Oil (MCV) was subjected to a dynamometer test designed to simulate conditions even more extreme than the demanding stop-and-go driving conditions of a motorcycle rally or parade route.
A 2012 Harley-Davidson FXDB Dyna Street Bob motorcycle equipped with AMSOIL 20W-50 Synthetic Motorcycle Oil was operated for 68.5 minutes at low speeds, with significant idle time broken by engine revving. Like most Harley-Davidson motorcycles, the Dyna Street Bob features an air-cooled V-twin engine, which relies on cooling fins arrayed along the cylinder walls to conduct heat away. To create the most-severe operating conditions possible, the electronic temperature controls, which safeguard the motorcycle when temperatures reach dangerous levels, were deactivated. The test subjected the oil and engine components to intense heat not normally experienced in the real world, with cylinder temperatures reaching more than 500°F.
AMSOIL Withstands the Heat
The extreme temperatures were no match for AMSOIL Synthetic Motorcycle Oil. After nearly 70 minutes of torturous testing and heat exposure, oil analysis revealed no change in oil viscosity and only minor levels of oxidation, TBN depletion and wear.
Not only did AMSOIL Synthetic Motorcycle Oil prevent the engine from overheating and seizing, it did so without losing chemical integrity or ability to protect vulnerable engine components, demonstrating that it provides outstanding protection even in compromising and severe high-temperature riding and idling conditions not experienced by most riders.

Top AMSOIL Amateur Signs Pro Contract
CORONA, Calif. (May 16) – Known across the sport for finding and nurturing some of the best up-and-coming talent in motocross, the GEICO/AMSOIL/Honda team has signed rising motocross star Zach Bell through the 2014 season.
Bell has been tearing up the amateur ranks atop his AMSOIL/Factory Connection/Honda as part of the group’s developmental program . He’s now committed to joining the team later this summer following his final amateur race at the prestigious Loretta Lynn’s AMA National Motocross Championship presented by AMSOIL.
“It an awesome deal for me,” Bell said. “Everybody wants to be a part of these big factory teams, and I did everything I could do to earn a spot. I’ve worked hard, run to the best of my abilities and kept my head in it and it all paid off when GEICO/AMSOIL/Honda gave me a call and we made a deal. It’s an incredible opportunity for me.
“I’m trying hard to win every race for this team, training as hard as I can every day. I even went out to California and did some testing with the team. Everyone from the shop was really helpful and the other riders were super cool to me. It was a great introduction.”
GEICO team manager Mike LaRocco said that despite nursing a wrist injury, Bell looked good when he was thrown into the mix against his stable of champion riders.
“His speed is really good,” LaRocco said. “We had him do part of a moto with our guys and he fit right in. I’m looking forward to life after this year’s Loretta Lynns and seeing what he can do.”
Bell said he enjoyed his first taste of riding a powerful GEICO/AMSOIL/Honda CRF250 and is looking forward to competing without restrictions.

After months of preparation the 71st Annual Daytona Bike Week event kicks off in Daytona Beach, FL on Friday March 9th. As the Official Oil of the event, the AMSOIL message will be hard to miss as hundreds of thousands of bikers & spectators descend on the city.
Since 1937 and its humble beginnings as the Daytona 200 race, Daytona Bike Week has evolved into one of the biggest and most attended motorcycle rallies of its kind. The event spans ten days with a vast selection of things to do. Visitors will find something for every inclination. High-powered racing events, laid back cruises, parties, live entertainment and so much more ensure attendees leave with fond memories and plans to return next year.
AMSOIL will be on the scene in four locations, working hard to add even more exciting elements throughout the week. Spectators can enter daily drawings for free products, learn about our company and see why we are the Official Oil of the three largest motorcycle rallies in the nation; Daytona, Sturgis & Laconia.
